International Workshop on Agritourism Postponed to August 31 – September 2, 2021
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Workshop on Agritourism (IWA) scheduled for October 27-29, 2020 in Burlington, Vermont, USA will be postponed. Our thoughts go out to everyone impacted during this difficult time. A crisis like this reinforces the need to support local farms and furthers the urgency of the work that all of us do in different ways to help keep farms viable and strengthen local food systems and rural communities.
We are planning ahead to a time when we can travel again. The new dates of the International Workshop on Agritourism are August 31 - September 2, 2021. The conference will take place at the Hilton Burlington Hotel in downtown Burlington, Vermont, USA. The University of Vermont Extension local host committee is working on developing an exciting program for participants that will include educational sessions on pertinent industry topics, poster presentations, hands-on workshops and farm tours, networking events, and time with our exhibitors and sponsors. We invite you to extend your trip on either end of the Workshop to explore the bountiful farms, culinary experiences, arts, and other attractions in Vermont and surrounding states and provinces. Mark your calendar and make plans now to attend! Who should attendFarmers, researchers, agricultural service providers, tourism experts and others interested in agritourism are invited to share their knowledge and experience.

Agritourism: a successful and growing example of sustainable tourismAgritourism offers farmers the possibility of diversifying and generating additional income through on-farm activities. This helps to maintain the viability of active farms and rural communities. Agritourism enterprises support and promote agricultural resources, traditions and culture.
